What a Glide app actually costs to build
When someone asks "how much does a Glide app cost?" the honest answer is: it depends less on the app than on two decisions you make at the start.
The obvious costs
- Build: For a typical internal tool — 3-5 screens, a real data model, role-based access — plan on €3,000-€8,000 depending on complexity.
- Glide subscription: Business plans start around $60/mo per app. Public apps with many users cost more.
- Data source: Google Sheets is free but slow at scale. Glide Tables scale better and are included.
The costs nobody quotes you
- Scope creep from unclear roles: If you don't decide upfront who sees what, every new screen becomes a debate. Budget a day of interviews before writing a single component.
- Ongoing changes: Most clients want changes forever. Either budget a small monthly retainer (5-10 hours) or accept that every request will be a new mini-project with its own overhead.
Where I see budgets double
Almost always in one of two places: (1) migrating messy data into a clean model after the app is half-built, or (2) discovering three weeks in that the client actually needs a public-facing product, not an internal tool, and Glide isn't the right platform for it.
Both are avoidable with a real scoping conversation. That's why I don't quote apps sight-unseen.
